Professor Scott Altgilbers

He is the owner and head instructor at Gracie Humaitá Quincy, IL, and the owner of Midwest Jiu-Jitsu Academy Monroe City, MO.

Professor Scott served eight years in the U.S. Army, including two overseas deployments. While deployed in Afghanistan, his duties included training soldiers through the Army Combatives Program and teaching hand-to-hand combat to military personnel.

After returning stateside, Professor Scott continued training soldiers in Army Combatives while also conducting women’s self-defense courses for civilians.

Professor Scott brings his passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo to every class. He believes that quality instruction, individual feedback, encouragement, and consistent training help students reach their full potential. He encourages students to develop their skills both on the mat and through tournament competition, while fostering a strong sense of teamwork, camaraderie, and mutual respect.

Professor Scott also believes that a student’s family and support system play an important role in their success. His goal is to create an environment where students of all ages and experience levels can learn, grow, and become the best version of themselves both on and off the mat.
